Petrol tank on a 75 Series 3. How much will it hold? I stuffed £20 in yesterday and it shot to 3/4 of a tank from just under teh 1/4 mark.
Small capacity or dodgy guage? You know what curiosity did so my cats hiding whilst I post this.

Whoa only £50 to fill up :(

My disco's £120 to brim, never mind about the series when thats running thats gonna need to be brimmed twice a week minimum

Yes... i have a Discovery as well. :( - expensive beasts.

Of course you could fit a second tank - or just carry a few jerry cans in the back.

Thanks ever so much I guessed it was around there, Quite small tanks concidering the amount they use.

Ere Bump curiosity again, I realise it depends what you do and how you drive, but do you know more or less waht you get out of yours? Just put the first fuel in mine so unsure what to expect, mid you Im not expecting a lot :D.

15mpgish lots of stop start round town, 12ish at 60 - 70 on motorways/dual carriageways, 20ish on a long run at about 45. The big filler neck is to help you fill it up from the spare jerrycan of fuel you'll have to carry 'cos all the rural garages are shut. (or carry a map of supermarket locations)

Mines the 2.25Ltr 4Cylnder.

I done 30 to 40 mph in mine so far, an exciting ride :D Cant see me doing 50mph to 60mph  Well not with me sat in it anyway :D

I heard the 6 Cyl drunk it like it was the last pint in the pub, I know their not great, but 15 -12 mpg  bugger ell. The landys our second vehicle and its not doing any milage as such, which is why I didnt mind the thurst pocket to much, I am surprised at 15 to 12 I have to admit.

Mine's a 21/4 petrol in a reasonable state of tune and I'm using unleaded with additive. Top whack is about 75 on standard diffs and tyres but it was a bit wandery of late 'cos the steering box was f'd. I've overhauled the box and I'm hoping for better high speed stability when I get it all back together.

With an overdrive I guess?

No - but it really is full beans - long run up on a straight with the wind behind me and the whole vehicle rattling. I think it would go faster if the engine wasn't so knackered.

Bloomin' eck.. Mine sounds like it's going to rattle itself to bits at about 60mph with 235x85 tyres and a low mileage well maintained 2.5 defender engine in it - 75 would scare the bejeezus out of me!

I did get nearly 80 (if the speedo is to be trusted) but that was just before the timing chain tensioner munched itself - that engine never worked properly afterwards. Mind you, there was a hell of a step in the bores at the top. I dread to think how many miles it had actually done.

I've got a 200tdi conversion... so won't really relate - i also have no speedo or odometer so no way of knowing how far i go on a tank - i measure it in time factor as its only used for laning / off-roading! A tank will easily do a full days laning inc. travel there and back.

Before i did the 200tdi conversion a days laning would take two tanks of petrol and sometimes need a top up on the way back!
(This is probably of no use to you what so ever, sorry)
