That's fantastic news! please let us all know how things are going, and what you've managed to price them at. To be quite honest though, I think I'd rather buy one from you that get a crappy original part at the main stealers price. It's got to be a higher spec if you make it cos landrover have used the metal that fiat left over in 1970. Well done mate.

Picking the guard up tomorrow, but we've been doing some research and pre-planning today.

Looking at a similar tubular frame, but with plates approx 3mm thick, not swaged, but similar overall shape and design. Along with better sections between the 2 plates, but i'll work that out when I get the guard tomorrow.

Also looking at a separate bolt on aluminium guard which can be bought and fitted separately to the cradle, which will offer the cradle protection from the elements, and the rest of the underneath a bit of protection too. Had thought about making the cradle out of aluminium, but it might get too expensive.

For the cradle, the price will be less than LR, but by how much I can't say until I look into it further. I'll try to keep the price as low as possible, but not to skimp on quality.

Because of the costs involved i'll need paid orders up front before I do anything in terms of production, but quite a few on here and other forums know me and have had other things off me, and they know my quality :D

Let me know and we'll figure something out. I'm in S Wales so picking up will be a bit of a pain. I look forward to seeing the finished product! Keep in touch.

I tend to use couriers, can get it delivered for between £10-£15

Going to start drawing up the cradle tomorrow, hopefully get the tubular drawings sent off for prices tomorrow too.

Well I'll be damned!!! It passed the MOT. I just painted what was left of the cradle and it went through. Did have a bit of a problem with the dreaded 2 amigos, but the guy let it go cos he knows I'll get the switch replaced and it hasn't affected the braking on the car. By the way, does anyone know the cheapest place to get the upgraded brake switch and harness? ebay has a few sellers but the price is a bit silly for what it is.

Cheers mate, still considering a new cradle at some point as it just doesn't feel right to be driving it half cocked. Needs a few other things done as well, back box, brake switch, rear window regulators, sunroof runner, cuddly toy, the list is endless. It looks like I could be spending more time under it than in it driving. Keep in touch and let me know how the cradle is coming along please. Going by the other things you knock out it's going to be good!!

Hi, New member - same problem. How difficult is the replacement job. Haynes has instrucion --but from experience is it a hell of a job? I'll worry about spare cradle as I go along. Found nothing anywhere so far.
