Are we now looking at a 'group buy' to get the price down from Land Rover?

Doubt you'd get anything more than the 10% off, unless Land Rover were approached directly, but how much would they gain from it to make it worth their while to do a cheaper price?
A lot of people seem to want something more substantial too, and something which won't rot like a Defender

Fair point, I'd sooner wait if I'm honest for a more substantial one to be made.:)

Right, bought a cradle this morning, picking it up thursday when I go to pick my car up, as it just happens to be 15mins from where my car is.

So should have a price for the cradles sometime next week. Any thoughts on an initial quantity to make? 10? 20? How many people definitely want one thats a bit beefed up within the next month or two? (the more, the cheaper it will become).

They bolt into the same place don't they as they have the same tank? LR just superseeded the part number

I like the idea of a beefed up one please:)

Thinking about making them the same as the LR version with the 2 plates on the bottom, but for those who want a beefed up one, get some deflection plates made up and welded to the bottom of the frame. You'd lose 6-8mm of ground clearance, but it saves the need for a fuel tank guard

I dont think its superseeded, but two different part numbers. Im not sure though.

Recall looking into this with Hippo a few weeks ago and spoke to LR when I was in getting a service and the parts are identical, just changed the number for the facelift or something

Right, I'm still waiting on prices back for the tubular sections, seems they're not as easy to get right as I first thought! But...

I can do a reworked unit for those who are desperate on an exchange basis.
This would consist of new plates (twice as thick as the originals, with sizes adjusted to suit), the frame tidied up, shot blasted, zinc primered and painted in a polyester powder coat.
Cost for this would be £165 Inc VAT & Delivery, plus a £55 surcharge which will be refunded on the return of your existing cradle.

The only way this can work is if I can get the cradles back with the tubular and flat bar sections still in good condition, I can do some remedial work, but if the metal is knackered I can't work magic on it. Also need the cradle back in a timely fashion, as the next customer would be waiting for your cradle and so on.

Still intending to do the wholly new cradles, its just the tubular bits holding up the final price at the moment, got prices for the rest of it. I will need paid orders in advance for them though, due to the costs involved for me, it's a lot of money for me to sit on if people who say they're interested don't follow up that interest.

All good stuff - hope remake system gets going. I have same problem to you all, but I think different vehicle. Most mention TD4 -- mine is 1.8 1999. I've done loads of work and am now quite happy with it --except latest MOT warning on the tank cradle.
Great pictures of a cradle from SimonM that I can check with under my tank, suspect not exactly the same!
Don't recognise VIN 2A------, my veh. is YA------.

The diesels and petrols have the same cradle.

I put this on the backburner, as we were very busy back end of last year

Let us know when you may have the new cradle available or would you suggest we try to find elsewhere. Mines just failed its test for a corroded fuel tank cradle, I thought it might and that's why I put my name down for your replacement some months ago.
