Hi guys ! Have a 2005 Freelander 1.8l petrol facelift 1795cc 86kw/117hp 18K4F. The bands on my petrol tank support are rotting due to rust and need to change them. Question is, searching for parts - does the petrol cradle or bands of the Freelander 1 diesil fit the petrol model - are they the same part ? Please let me know what you think, most appreciated! Yours greatfully, arnodafe_72

All the same. Have to drop subframe to remove old and refit new. Soak bolts before removing. Obviously let tank go to near empty and support with strap or timber while you swap cradle. About 100 notes.

Also, check the holes in the tank shields are in correct position. I have had ones where you need to use a tank cutter and place correctly.

You mean 100 quid ? Also, what specifically is the subframe part ? Sorry - just want to be sure. Also, you mean replacing the entire ceadle so that some plates may no fit properly - as opposed to just replacing the bands. Thanks again ! 🍷😏

Ok. So plates and bands are all welded together. The rear subframe holds the diff, suspension arms etc, held by 4 large bolts. To get space to wothdraw the tank cradle you have to lower the subframe.
Just looked and about £80 to £90.
I have had some where the holes in the bottom.plates need drilling in the correct place. Check it against the old one before fitting.

Thanks alot ! Appreciate it - gonna try to find some pics of the bolts so i remove the right stuff ! Thanks again, arnodafe_72 (do you think maybe the difference in the hole position was due to it being either petrol or diesil ?)
