afternoon all ,

problem i have is my RR is turning over but not firing i had driven an hour down the motorway to take wifey to do her bikini comp , during a very long day of watching near naked oiled up bikini clad women i decided to go for a sleep in the motor .

i plugged my phone in to charge also dropped rear seats forward so i could lie down in the back fully , around 30-40 mins later i got up to go inside turned the key to make sure i hadnt run the battery flat but its wasnt firing at all but was turning over at normal rate , a young lass came by asked if i needed a jump start so hook up leads (new battery from halfords was highly suspect of battery being garbage) and still not firing so i called the AA .

once with me the AA fella cracked open an injector which was dry he then listened for tank pump to whir again no noise nothing still not firing , so recovered motor back home then flew to spain , was a stressful night and only hours before our flight old geoff my untrusty RR played up .

anyway

back home and checked motor out i charged battery fully and still nothing no diesel moving through pipes .

fuel filter is new .

im at a total loss with this really need some help .

i broke a fuel line connector that comes from tank to filtter header , ive blowed into tank and hear diesel (3/4 full of derv) also sucked diesel out so thats not blocked .

i by passed the filter and still no diesel .

all i can come up with is a pump fail on the engine block , i had the transparent pipe off and diesel is sat in the hole to the pump/engine .

has anyone any ideas ?

long read i know , thanks

AA guy checked fuses and I have a loose cut wire which I think is to the solenoid this has been like this prior to my buying it .
Put a meter on the stop solenoid and see if you have voltage there when the ignition is switched on.
If it worked before with your loose/cut wire i would ignore it.
Diagnostics is the way forward as it could well be loss of sync, I assume you have no messages on the dash display?

Brands hatch is West kingsdown so not far indeed :D

Perhaps my rangie dont like it up here but loved it in chatham .

I'd be looking at your tank pump : mine died without warning on the motorway : symptoms sound like what you're getting and no priming from pump when AA tested.
If it turns out to be the pump check out the threads for replacing : easier to cut an access hatch on boot floor than dropping the tank.

This is what I think has happened ive checked threads out already and it does seem like the pump in tank is not pushing fuel up and a weak tank pump can cause the hot start issue I have .

For the cost of a pump think I'll give this ago .

Thanks

Steve000 Trust me bikini comps are frustrating haha

No need to think remove filter if its cold Put a container under filter housing switch ingnition in to position II and see if fuel comes out if not try turning the car over if still no fuel your intank pump of its relay I'd duff .

No need to think act
