Hi folks, i was wondering if any could please give me any advice. i have a 02 plate Disco TD5. 18 months ago the fuel pump went (in the tank) and i had to replace it, but as those of you that know, it comes complete with the sender unit as one unit at a cost of £200. Now the sender has gone up the creek. Every the fuel gauge is showing empty, and i go to fill it up, it turns there is still about 30 ltres in the tank.
When i brought the last pump/sender unit it was new from landrover, and is a genuin part.... surely it should last longer than 18 months, but landrover do not want to know.
Does any body have any ideas please.

Thanks mate will do, its a pain of a job.mine is the 5 seater not the 7. i have to remove all the side bins.. complete nightmare. thanks any mate

you dont have to remove bins carpet pulls out from under them ,just the rear trim ,i have a spare uniy with good sender poor pump you might swap pumps

I had the same problem and changed out the fuel gauge sender on my pump with one that I got off a dead pump from this forum. Been working OK ever since. The hardest part was cleaning up the wires so as I could resolder them to the sender circuit board. They were covered in diesel which makes soldering impossible unless completely clean.

Did you rejoin at the circuit board, where the terminals are bare?

I was wondering if it would be easier/cleaner to cut and join the wires... and then heat shrink over the joint??

I'm glad I didn't bin my old pump!!

Yes I resoldered the existing wires direct to the little sender unit pcb. I ran it through my mates degreasing tank for a few minutes to get the diesel cleaned off but I suppose a few doses of carb or brake cleaner would have done the same.
