Ive ran into a problem with my 2002 td4. Under load or above 2.5-3k rpm, the engine loses power, the mil light comes on and the engine goes into limp mode. If I then turn off the ignition and re start the engine, the mil light goes out and it drives perfectly again until I reach that 2.5-3k mark.

(I've checked all the hoses and they are fine, ive had them go before but never had the mil light come on)

Anyway I thought this might be the fuel pump and filter so I changed them and to my horror it's not corrected the problem.

Any how I did notice that my old fuel pump and the new one, seem to be running flat out all the time, especially when the mil light is active it seems even louder.

My thought is that it maybe the injectors on there way out. What i'm asking is, is there anything else it might be before I commit to buying the new injectors ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not expert on this, but the car is presumably detecting a lack of fuel pressure - hence its trying to up the amount of fuel in the system. This won't be due to injectors.

It could be the LP pressure sensor or the HP sensor - you need to run some diagnostics.

I'd suspect the HP sensor, the wiring loom to it (replacement upgraded harness available) or the Pressure Regulator O Rings in the HP fuel Pump.

the hp sensor is on the end of the hp fuel pump. It has a electrical connector plug on the end. Try this first it the cheapest.
Fuel pressure sensor is at the end of the fuel rail, there is a upgraded harness for it
HP fuel pump takes around 4-5 hours to change you also need a special tool

I think that's LP Sensor on the HP fuel pump and HP Sensor on the end of the Common Rail - but don't take my word.

You don't want to be changing the HP Pump - just possibly the O Rings in the Regulator part of it - easy/cheap replacement discussed on here often.

Probably not - there's not many reports of them failing - but lots of reports of the regulator O rings. However, up to you. Might be worth putting it on diagnostics - it will tell you what the sensor thinks the pressure is and you can then see if its working properly or not.

I'd be getting the low pressure pump pressure checked. Normally reduced power and MIL lit is the LP pump not able to keep up demand. The ECU puts the engine into limp mode to avoid HP pump damage. The LP pressure should remain above 350Kpi at full power.

There is a new lp pump on it so surely that's not the problem ???

I'be ordered a high pressure fuel regulator seal repair kit. It's only cost £10 so it's worth a try at that price.

It has ran on for a few seconds previously but only once or twice and never for a long period so this maybe a give away. Fingers crossed

When i had a leaking HP fuel pump, i replaced it with a so called " removed from a running vehicle " one from ebay.
After fitting i had the same problem 2.5-3k revs and it died. Didn't think about the regulator at the time. So sent it back and got a refurbished unit from a diesel specialist which came with a new regulator.
Fitted it. Problem solved
I reckon your problem is either regulator or the pump.
I'd replace the regulator first its the cheapest
