Fuel pressure regulator options?

My Pressure regulator is leaking so what are my options?

buy a new unit?
Is there a seal kit to reuse the original?
Is it LR only or does someone else make one?

Any help would be appreciated & advise with regard to parts.

As I understand it, it's the rubber 'o'-rings that cause the FPR to leak. If you can source the right size and material you could rejuvenate it.

Not just the early ones ! My 2002 leaked.

Shifty has repaired using an " O " ring, but you have be sure you,ve got the right one, as it,ll be gutting to have scraped your knuckles for a couple of hours for it to start leaking again !.

( I put a Britpart one on and it leaked withing 40 miles. Dealer only as far as I,m concearned ).
 
Get original part. Approx £100 and £7 for the seal. Seal is a thin metal gasket sort of thing. Bite the bullet and get it done. Its a job worth doin and piece of mind for a while.
 
When I replaced mine, I found the best angle of attack was to put a camping mattress on top of the engine block and work lying down on the engine from above...
bastid little bolts!

Here is how it looks in pieces...the two bits from the bottom of image are the spare parts( the o-ring and the "gasket")

U can take out the little "keg" from the FPR body and see there are two o-rings on it(the middle of image)

....a small and a bigger one.....the small is 10mm/ext. - 5mm/int. and the bigger 26/ext. - 21/int. .....if u can put your hand on this size of good quality(diesel proof) o-rings and replace them the FPR will be like new. The whole rest of FPR body is totally compact high alloy so it cant leak unless its cracked(unlikely)

If some of u guys can find a source for this o-rings let me/us know please...we could save some money in the future...;)

I used only one flexible tubular spanner to removethe FPR without disturbing other parts

that's an old thread.... since then i've found out that the repair kits are working only in let's say in 15% of cases... the real cure is a new OE fpr... believe me... but you can try your luck, with this LAND ROVER DISCOVERY TD5 FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR REBUILD KIT | eBay
