well its back a sure sign the cooler weather is here started hippo as normal could smell diesel straight away flipped bonnet leaking from the same place as before. little rubber pipe off the injector pump tried to tighten no effect went to local motor factors for new pipe thought i would try a smaller diameter pipe got it to fit but to attatch it to the steel fuel pipe it has to bend 90 degrees(to much of a kink) fuel starvation car would not start.put on same diameter pipe as i took off f**king leaking again:mad: am at a loss of what to do now any help is much appreciated:confused:

The larger pipe you put back on, was it that same pipe that originally caused the leak or some different stuff? The pipe could be getting hardened by heat and has assummed its shape, hence it will not grip tight to make a seal.

sorry darmain forgot to say the larger pipe was a new one but the same diameter as the original and also used new clips

Things to consider. Can you chop back the original pipe so to allow fresh pipe onto the spigot? That sometimes helps if it is possible. If this doesn't fix the problem then is the leak actually coming from the pipe/spigot union? Another thought that comes to mind is (and I apologise for a lack of knowledge on the TD4 fueling system) is there a pressure regulation issue that is pushing the fuel pressure too high, hence the leak?

thanks for the quick reply i cannot chop the pipe (its the right length) as far as the other things are concerned i hope not:mad: troubleis cannot see if it is indeed the rubber pipe or the metal union on the injector pump as you suggested just hoped it was the easy option.as far as the pressure issue is there anything i can check also the metal union on the injector pump is there anyway to repair:confused:

Just got the Haynes manual out. Are we talking about those short flexi hoses between the pump and the steel feed and return pipes? Theres a good picture of them. Nothing special about them it seems.... :(

pretty sure thems the ones as you look at the pic its the one on the right not the arrowed end its the other end thats leaking.it only leaks when the air temp is cold and on first start up after about a miniute it stops:mad::mad::mad:

I suspect it's the spigot in the pump that either split or more likely not sealed in the pump body and the colder conditions possibly causing shrinkage and the leak. The hose itself being straightforward to fit and seal with a standard hose clip I can't see how you could go wrong. Speak to a diesel shop and ask if the spigot can be twisted out and refitted with Locktite.
