Hi All,

I am trying to rectify the last 'fault' on me 88" Series 3;

The fuel gauge has never worked correctly since I purchased it --
It reads empty when full and progressively fuller as the tank empties.

I thought that the sender wires were the wrong way round but when I swap them it kills the gauge completely, needle stay at the bottom with no sign of movement.

Any other ideas?

Cheers

It’s not a gauge off of a positive earth vehicle??? If you short out the tank sender wire to earth does the gauge go up to full? It should.

Had the same problem with mine. I whipped it out (and the sender unit), the float was bent. Straightened it and cleaned all the contacts. Works fine. Shows empty now most of the time. But thats cuz I drive like Lewis Hamilton

fixed... pin hole in float caused it to semi fill with diesel and sink when tank was full, as tank emptied there was enough of an air gap to make it float :p
