Hi, I have looked but cannot find a previous answer to this.
On my 06 plate TD4 FL there is a single wire attached to the fuel filter (the filter and pump are behind the rear wheel-that one) I have just changed the filter and have a suspicion the wire has not been connected for a while. I am sure one of you gentlemen or ladies will know this one.
I read all the threads I could find about changing the filter before I did it and as usual all the previous experience proved invaluable. I love you guys. In a brotherly way. Not in any other way. I am married you know

I think you most likely are talking about the earth wire, it should fit onto a metal clip that is trapped between the filter and it's case, photo below 99.9% of the time it is broken and as to be fixed.

Also only best to ever fit one these fuel pumps below, other are not up to the job, as after market ones break down in a short time & are noisy.

Hi thanks for your response that is indeed the little chap. Forgive me if this is a dumb question but what does it do? I realise it’s an earth but can you explain to me what it does, I have tried to avoid doing anything electrical since trying to rewire British motorcycles when I was a lad and came to realise I am partially colour blind. Honestly. It’s a thing. 1 in 12 men apparently have some degree of colour blindness. 11 people can see colours perfectly because of me.
