Fuel filler door latch

RR. 2008, TDV8 3.6 Vogue SE

The little motorised spike that locks the fuel filler door is not working.

Has anyone gone through the process of replacing? How do you get the old one out?

Are you sure it's the solenoid and not the dash push button? There should be an emergency release string behind the little plastic panel.
It's easy enough to get at wh4n you remove the boot side trim.

The spike is stuck in, not out, so no issues opening. Just doesn't move (to locked position) with door locking

I can pull it in and out with LN Pliers, i can hear/feel the motor spinning

Sorry, I was thinking about the P38, no idea how it works on the L322 but no doubt it will be overcomplicated.
