fuel consumption

what kind of range do you guys get out a tank full. Mine did about 280-300, is this good or bad? I was hoping for more or should I be looking for a problem?

sounds about right to me,around town i get about 18 mpg and on a motorway run recently i got 255-260 miles to £50 of fuel(about 95% tank of fuel)when i checked this it worked out about 26-27 mpg which is what book states..2000 1.8

better fuel economy can be had when it turns into a steam engine-call for recovery

If i'm absolutely hammering it i can get as low as about 8mpg, if i'm really nice to the accelerator i can get about 26mpg.

That's on a slightly modified engine though

When it was stock i remember getting about 320 miles from a full tank.

Never realised that the fuel consumption on the 1.8 petrol was so bad.

My Td4 averages 38mpg, and can easily get 440 miles on a tank full.

The 1.8K isn't that bad for fuel economy, it's just a small engine for a big car.

When the Rover 25 first had a 1.8VVC K, it would do 70mpg according to adverts. The K series was one of the most advanced engines of it's time as far as economy goes.

I get 360 miles from every tank. I guess thats about 30mpg which I am pretty happy with. Have it serviced regularly and I don't do a huge amount of city driving.

Yay, I was looking for this thread.

I get from our lander, approx 760km (approx 472 miles), from a full tank of diesel. (Lander is approx 15 years old original engine pre TD model). Mainly a mix of A class road driving and city driving, where stop start - traffic lights kills the fuel consumption (epecially if the wife is driving - un necessary gas pedal action and holding the gears too long before changing).

When motorway driving I try to keep the RPM at apppox 3K, anymore is like dropping a sponge in the fuel tank - besides that £300 a time in speeding fines don't help.

Having run it on veg oil and diesel on and off over the past year, it's time to go in for a service as the fuel filters and pipes may need to be addressed.

But, looking at the consumpions in this thread, I don't feel as bad as I did earlier.

However now the temp gauge has now died - alway's summat to do...

I have just done about 480 miles on a tank full of fuel that was with about an hour hold up in a traffic jam and I don't think that is bad from an 02 Freelander TD4 with 112.000 on the clock.

My freelander sport drinks the stuff when you floor it around town etc.. but motorway driving is great, plods at 95mph all day and not too bad even then on fuel !

I get anywhere between 37 and 34MPG from my TD4 with 138K on the clock, i do mixed driving but only, about 65 or 70 on the motorway. It was always 37 but has suddenly dropped on the last few tanks (yes i do work it out) to 34mpg...

280 to 340 from a 1.8 is average i would think,

Have to agree with one of the previous comments regarding the poor 1.8 MPG. I have a TD4 2003 and on a recent trip to Scotland got 502 miles out of a single tank. I regularly get 450-475 out of a tank on a mix of Motorway and Town driving

Getting about 480 - 500 miles from a full tank in my L series. 160k on the clock and converted to 2 wheel drive.

I get about 420 out of my 'o6 TD4, but I do have quite a heavy right foot......
