OK, need to get a new set of gaskets for my Series I's gas tank. The filler and sender gaskets are the same as IIA and later, but the rubber ring in the cap I'm not sure about.

The filler on the tank will take a military cap, so i'm going to safely i think assume that the rubber gaskets are the same. Question is - is this the same ring as is used on a standard Series side-filler? I don't have my parts books handy, else I'd do the requisite digging... (work, humph!).

To finish this it turns out the standard gasket does not fit the top-fill tank. i had a look tonight at my own setups - something I couldn;t do while I had the opportunity to order parts, hence the question.

Re: Cork:

Could well do that - I have rubberised cork in stock in the shop and the stuff is trivial to cut.

Have sheet rubber as well but the cork is likely more resistant to the fuel additives.

thanks - ajr
