hi all,im new to the forum,my mame is rob,ive got a scruffy looking 1972 series 3 on a gavie chassis, parabolics, insa turbo tyre ect,200tdi conversion properly done, with 90 diffs and its a flyer! ......enough about the landy and down to the problem i have....it all started when i had a short on a wire for my indicator flasher unit, sorted short out and removed the flasher unit as it was damaged,(have yet to fit another flasher unit)now my fuel and temp gauge are not giving the correct readings ie fuel is full and temp is above half! any ideas please, thanks rob

Almost certainly the voltage stabiliser. It's a little silver box with two connections that clips in a bracket on the back of the speedo. It may have just become dislodged (I had problems after changing speedo cable) But even if it's actually failing and needs replacing, they're not expensive.

hi,thanks for the quick replys....very helpfull,i will check behind the speedo...also now that i have have sorted the short the indicator lights seem very brite, will they be less brite when i fit the new flasher unit?thanks rob

I don't have a voltage stabaliser...whats that all about then?

Mad Hat - you got a link for a suitable digital one? Not seen one of those before.

Should be Attached to the rear of the instrument binacle on the LHS. Make sure you dont loose the clamping screw coz its a bit of a bugger to remove.

they used to be advertised on Ebay - but it is easy to make one - cept yu need an old one for the case - then just wire a 7810 regulator inside.

all sorted now....:D ! i repaced the "little box" and the flasher unit today and its all back to normal.all of this hassel because the top skrew that holds the indicator unit onto the steering was a bit long and it shorted out on a live indicator wire!!!!!!! that good advise thank you....how do i upload a pic of my landy?thanks again rob:)
