Land Rover Freelander 97 To 06 SUSPENSION Wishbone Left on eBay (end time 15-Jul-10 20:41:22 BST)

This guy yescarparts sells FAI wishbones on ebay. He sells both sides though the above is for one side only. Not the cheapest but FAI are good quality & If there's any problem just email him & he'll arrange replacement, (just give him a little time). For end bushes you'll need to contact Famous Four & only buy ones complete with their alloy housings. If yours are still good though just use them & save yourself a wad of cash.
Just make sure whoever you go to isn't selling a Britpart item unless you want to change them again a few months down the line.

Have FAI on mine and they're very good. As for the bushes and housings i got mine from local landy dealer for abouut £60 iirc. You really really don't want to buy the bushing on it's own, pig of a job.

I'll second that, I did buy the bushes on their own & tried to press them in with a vice which didn't work & I ended up cracking the plastic outer of the bush itself just as I was about 5mm away from fully home. I ended up buying a secondhand set of bushes to bolt straight on.
There are two types of end bush, early & late depending on chassis number. Famous Four only list the earlier type with housing & didn't bother replying to my email query regarding later ones so you're probably looking at a LR dealer for those.
I actually bout the early type from a scrappy & found that physically the dimensions & mounting angles etc. were exactly the same as the later units except early ones have a protruding locating dowel which I easily managed to drift out with a hammer & small punch. The bush itself has a totally different part number on it so I assume they changed the rubber compound but the early units work very well on my car with no problems.

A couple of tips before you do the job.
First you need to completely remove that pig of an undertray which can have seized bolts remove this now before you even source your wishbones - unfortunately it & its frame has to come off to get the long front bolt out from the front of the wishbone - it'll make the job a whole lot easier when you come to do the changeover (Use plenty of grease on the bolts when refitting after the jobs done)
Second make sure you've got a good quality 1/2" drive socket set with wall drive sockets 15mm, 18mm, 22mm will be needed & one of my nuts was an odd 21mm or 23mm size for which I used a spanner though it should have been 22mm.
Next, you can crack off all the bolts with the car on the ground & all wheels still on before you start the job (front bush bolt, 2 rear bush housing bolts, rear bush end nut, wishbone balljoint nut) - they will be tight.
Use a fork type balljoint splittet large size as the clamp type won't fit in because of the hub. You can change the wishbones by just jacking up the car & removing the wheel, no need to dismantle anything else.
Finally Don't forget not to tighten up both front & rear wishbone bushes till the full weight of the car is bearing down on the suspension i.e. wheel back on & car off the jack in order for the bushes to be clamped up in the correct position.

Once you've done one side, it'll take you less than an hour to do the other side as long as all your bolts undo without any hassles & you'll realise it's not as big a job as you first think. Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice chromiumuk, orderd the wishbones just need to get the rear bushes/housing now.

Undertray is already off and had a hole cut in it for future oil changes. Still trying to sort out a new air con compressor

Bolts & nuts might be 21mm not 22mm, can't quite remember, so best to have that size ready. Ask Chaser re aircon he's quite skilled in that area.
