bit of a strange one this. Its a Discovery 2 which the rear wipers and washers work, the front 'flick' and 'wash & wipe' work, but the intermittent, slow and fast work sometimes. It does self park OK. When selecting the different modes I can hear the relay click in the dash.

i've tried replacing the 15amp fuse, but seemed to not make any different. Also had a look at the wiring diags from the rave CD but could not work out what the failure could be.

I'm totally stumped :(

Cos on flick wipe and wash wipe the motor gets feed directly from the switch and on normal/intermittent switch operation the BCU and IDM are involved.... if u hear the relay clicking it means the IDM sends the feed to the relay's coil so first thing to do is to replace the relay, maybe it's contacts are playing up.

see RAVE > Workshop manual > wipers and washers > Operation and u'll get smarter(or at least scared to see how LR overcomplicated this issue

Thanks for the reply, very handy.

Do you happen to know which relay that would be? Comments I can find is that the relay (noted as R134 on the wiring diagram) is an integral part of the fuse box? Can it be swapped out to check?

:frusty: .... off course, i mixed D2 and D1 in my head .... yes for D2 the wipers are controlled by the fusebox(built in relays) ...that's why i said they overcomplicated it....unfortunately the wiper relays are sodered into the circuit and i didnt see them as spare... it's like in the pics but i dont ebven know which of those relays is cos there is no detailed scheme of the fusebox itself...u can see the IDM too there (like a small integrated circuit).... make sure it's not a wiring issue, identify the first connector after the fusebox and make measurements. u can see pin disposals in electrical library +c onnector views and see if when the relay clicks u get feed at C0030 pin 2 and if not pray to have at C0586-11 otherwise instead of tracing where that WLG wire is interrupted u'll have to get hold of a new or known good fusebox...good luck
