hi there.. just got my 1st disco.. off a complete imbecile by the look of it.. 1st problem was the fool had missed the rear caliper with one of the mounting bolts! so it was hanging on one bolt.. easy to correct thankfully.. among other challenges was a loose instrument binnacle.. secured now but as i was fiddling with it an srs light lit up briefly.. never seen it before or since.. no handbook.. how should this light operate and what does it indicate?

Also if anyone got a front valance(the one wiv fogs in it) for a 97 disco 1, somewhere near leeds i could be interested.. it seems removal of the front valance is the 1st step in any modification.. fed up of blokes at scrap yards laughin at me.. they not used to someone wanting to fit one of these, me thinks.. lol.. cheers..

The SRS light is your airbag light. When you turn ignition on it should light for a few seconds then go out.

if you have air bags you will have one in the steering wheel and possibly one for the passenger but if there is a grab handle on the dash there is no bag.

srs lights can come on due to loose wiring and you will find many threads on here about different fixes for it.

I have a valance if needed but it is a standard one with no fog lights unfortunately

Like this ... unless someone has removed them. Mine is an S model and has them fitted, I always thought they were standard fit on XS & ES models:confused:

cheers guys.. i got grab handle in passanger side and a big horn button in middle of steering wheel.. so i guessed no airbags.. so should the light be totally inactive.. another guess? lol..
Thanks bobbler.. if i totally luck out on the fog valance i could well take up yr offer.. mine not only lacks the fogs but there appears to be a plastic moulding that fits round the hole for one of the fogs missin as well..
i'm gettin a crash course in how to fix just bout everythin on this discovery.. fitted new interior (holes had been drilled in every trim panel including tops of door cards?) welded both sills, fitted new rear sunroof, fixed soggy carpet in passenger footwell (water trackin on wiring under wiper water bottle through bulkhead into cabin), new poly anti roll bar bushes, new headlining, new switch for extra reversing light (one that had been fitted lit up orange and stopped ya seein out when it was dark), load cover, boot amp and speakers, window regulator went wiv a bang (found the fix on this very informative site and welded it back together). phew..
bits still to do..... its pullin left slightly? tracking ok and tyre pressure ok.. got me stumped..
new bonnet, must be 2lb of filler in this one.. that thick its cracked!
an only had it a couple of months!!!
thought i'd done my research, obviously not thoroughly enough.. lol
still i wouldnt swop it ..

Would you like to buy mine off me incl fogs? Will be surplus to requirements soon.

Don't see any reason why it would be active, unless they'd been removed by a previous owner, failing that there might well be a loose wire as thebiglad suggested ... have a search as I'm sure this was covered not too long ago

Checked the front brakes? could be seized pistons, a common occurrence on Disco1's.

if there aint a light in the binnacle for the srs, as you were movin it about has it picked up light from another source? ie outside?
noticed my srs when i had a torch down the back of dash lookin for a wire i'd poked up from below.
