Were off on a dive trip to scotland in a few months and taking our rib with us. Now launching is not normaly a problem but we know that the slipway where were going is a bit tight so am thinking a front push/tow bar will be usefull (had one on an old range rover, dam usefull).
Has any one out there got any experiance of fitting one/ where to get one from, ive only seem a couple fitted out on the road so not been able to ask where from?

cheers

I do a fair bit of towing and launching RIB's.

Howcome you dont do the rope or cable/winch method.. Do you mean Reversing around a tight apex?

I dont know of a front tow bar to FL but could be done with a bit of thought. G4 had the removable winch fitted where lower grill is.

You would need to fi it to the front crossmember which is behind the front bumper.

One way of doing this would be to use an a-bar, but not many of them are structural and fit to the crossmember.

Nice photo blippie! Especially the chunks of ice behind alu plate LOL

Is that an aluminium A bar from your camel FL.

Mantec services do some aftermarket add ons but nothing like that

That was a cooooold day. Goes to show how warm it has been this year that we haven't had a decent frost down here, let alone inch thick ice.

What the pick doesn't show is the way the a-bar attaches to the crossmember. I would worry if that you attched a tow bar to a normal a-bar then it would not be strong enough. Depends on what you are jockying around I suppose. How heavy are these boats and trailers?

You know what I love about this forum? you put a cry for help up, and some nice soul finds you just what you're looking for, with a nice side salad of friendly abuse & banter.Cracking.

While we're on about it, anyone know where I can find a FL that'll do 200K miles with no problems whatsoever? Already tried t'bay and dismissed it as advertising hype...:p

p.s. no abuse meant folks, just filling in for Slob....

No probs.....
1) buy cheapest freelander going.
2) place on rear of AA low-loader.
3) ask AA man (very nice man) to take hippoo with him wherever he goes
4) at 200K miles return hippoo to owner.

:D :D :D :D

Hi folks

Thanks for your replies. Did find the PRO16DT late last night and got in touch this morning & they kindly emailed me a drawing but Im not sure its up to the job. We have a 5m rib which is about 650kg plus 4 sets of gear.
Yes we do use the rope method for recovery when needed but this trip has a slipway with a fairy tight bend at the top, been there before its a sod to reverse down but not impossible. Not keen on fitting an A bar but like the idea of using the chassis mounts to build a bar. Any thoughts anyone.

Cheers

Tried the google search but only the PRO16DT shows from two places.
How good are the front mounts for the heavy A bars.
