I cant get front driver seat to move, have only just got it and it didnt move then, have done the following:

- removed seat by using a drill to move it, there was power in the cable that plugs into the seat using voltmeter.

-powered motors directly from battery and all 4 worked ok.

-swapped relay with passenger seat, passenger seat moves afterwards drivers doesnt.

-checked all fuses that I could find but not sure which they are for the seat.

-took seat switch apart and cleaned with contact cleaner, even did the same to another that also came from a seat that didnt move, thought I had done a good job.

-tried to get a power supply from connector blocks on the bottom of switch, with key on, no luck but that could be me as not sure colour of feed wire but couldnt get reading between any poles.

help please I dont know where to go next.

Swap the switch over from the seat that works, if the seat then moves you know that you need a new switch.

Thanks for the idea, unfortunately it does make the other seat move, so not the switch. Have heard of ECU problems but dont know what to look for, any advice I do have a donor classic but that had much the same problem.

A little confused, did you mean that it does not make the seat move?

Sorry, swapping the switch does make the seat move so cant be the switch. I have noticed that the mirrors dont move as well and have read about ECU problems could you tell me what you think.

thanks

I will assume that you mean that the seat moves with the other switch fitted.

If this is the case it confirms the switch is faulty.

If you have memory seats (they have green buttons on top of the switch box) they also control the mirrors.

The ECU has nothing to do with the seats.

Had this problem before when the daughter moved the drivers seat fully forward. Double check the security of the pins in the multiplugs from the ECU to the seat frame sockets. The cable looms do not have much slack and I found that just ONE pin was partially out of the plug-spotted it by pure chance. Give the lugs a good dig in with a screwdriver to make sure they are making a good connection and then try the switches before bolting the seat frame down. If you then find that you have the problem, send me a PM as I have a full memory seat base (R.H. front) complete with switches and ECU.
