Hi there, am wandering if anyone is able to help with some advice.
I have a 2000 land rover discovery td5 and the front prop shaft has decided to
Fall off from the front diff.

I assumed that I could remove the front prop completely an drive home. However after googling this some LR sites believe that you have to engage diff lock for this to work. This wouldn't be an issue except my disco has the traction control system rather than the diff lock.

Will taking the front prop off mean I can drive or would diff lock have to be engaged .

Thanks in advance for the help

I am led to believe that sometime the T box has the mechanism there.
If yu look on the top of the transfer box, immediately above the front output flange, see if you can see a small lever or a "bolt" sticking up. If so, it would seem you have the mechanism in the transfer box. Turn it clockwise ( front towards the drivers side) to engage. It will be very tight to turn.

Anyone got a pic for him?

Having had this happen, I tried removing the front prop, but as with your disco (traction control) I was unable to drive.
As had been said, there is a lever on top of the box to engage the diff lock, but as it will not have been used, it will be very very stiff.
I gave up in the end rather than risk further damage.
