Front prop shaft

Hi, lost my username, so back again with a new one!
I've got my front prop shaft off to renew the hardy spicer. The new one has arrived, but disaster, it's the wrong one!
Question, can i drive with the shaft off to get a replacement? The supplier is about 50 miles from me and with the holiday weekend here, i would like to get it sorted. In theory, i will be reverting to standard rear wheel drive, but in practice?
Advice will be appreciated.

Whack it in diff lock and you'll be fine! had the same prob with mine and discovered as we live near the beach its great for doin donuts like this too !!!:D
 
it werks on your Transfer box - dunno why its called Difflock - but i spose yu could argue there is a "diff" in your Transfer box.

Update fur Ratty - locking it in difflock hi does enable drive - i know you knew, but I have just proved it, and my "road noise" is now absent. I can now hear the diffs whining and the gearbox whiring and the Tbox clunking :eek:.!

a very poinyut point in favour of sed argument is the diff wot is in yer T/box. this diff is locked when yer blat into difflock which makes a solid link between front and rear diffs.

originally used on the RR and the 101 LR,( even teh stage 1 had a center diff in it ,so am told) and introduced to the workhorse of the range in 1984 with the introduction of the 90/110/county/defender/130 thus ended the truly selectable 4/2wd as used on the series landies.
