hi guys and girls, i have just purchased a 1998 discovery 1 50th adition, and the front bumper is past it, so i was looking at discovery hd bumpers and i have seen a picture of one with a discovery 2 style bumper on the front wich looked awsome, but i dont want to spend 400 quid on something that wont fit! these bumpers are called shadow bumpers, and i was just wondering if anyone has put a discovery 2 bumper on a disco 1 and what sort of mods do they need if any? if so has anyone got any pics they can share! thanks, tom.

I've read that while the chassis rails are the same width from each other, the D2 bumper is higher so to fit it you need to raise the bumper. This will probably require custom bumper mounts unless you can find somewhere that already does them. I remember a D1 I saw in LRO a while back now that had a D2 ARB bumper fitted, but that was all custom, so I assume that you'd have to go custom as well. ArcticFox did it on his vehicle the other way around (D1 bumper on a D2) and after making some custom mounts ended up chucking it away and buying a D2 bumper! So while it is do-able (he said the it was a straightforward job, for him anyway!) I'd just put my money into a D1 bumper, cause they're made to fit, and really, is probably the right thing for the job! You mention that it was a Shadow bumper, and I would've thought that they'd make a D1 version. Do you happen to have the photo? Cause then you might be able to match the D2 bumper to a D1 bumper from Shadow (I think Fist Four make or stock them). Might pay to have a look at their website.

thanks for the link dieseldog69! i have looked at this one but cant help but think it will look odd and out of place but have never seen a picture of this bumper on a discovery before! and im not going mad with mods so dont want anything that looks too high and agressive! so will have a look around! thankyou both for the advice its much appriciated! thanks, Tom. :D
