Hello again.
I have fitted the wire harness etc. from the US kit I bought from Ebay. Just to see if it all works before I start cutting into the front bumper.
See this thread, if you are interested.. :)

The V6 lights, nuts/bolts, brackets etc. are still for sale, see this thread, as I have bought the correct lights for the K-series bumper. :)

Well, over to the problem..

In Norway, daytime running lights are mandatory, either the front lights must be switched on at all times, or the sidelights and front fogs (but only during the day).

The US kit only works with the the lightswitch in position 0 (Lights off in most countrys, on in Norway) and in the on position. This is due to the fact that the wire that turnes the relay on, gets power from one of the H4 bulbs in the headlight.:

Driving with headlights and front fogs, would cost me £150-200 in fines every time the Police would stop me, so that is not an option.

Any suggestions? I guess I have to get the power to turn on the relay from another source? It should be fairly easy, found a old picture I used to wire fogs on the MG. Does anyone know why I have to have a wire to the rear fog switch? As far as I can see, it does nothing.

The kit should have a switch so you can choose when the fog lights are on or not separate to the headlight on/off control.
Hello mate. :) Thanks for the answer, I'm sorry if I did not make it clear enough.
It's a complete brand new kit, including fitting instructions, relays and all the other bits and pieces, part no.: STC53048, so everything is there.
But the switch is not live until pin 86 on the relay has power, (Don't know the English word for it), But it needs power from f.eks. sidelights to switch on the relay so the lights work..

As it is an American kit, I assumed that they have other laws regarding lights.
The relay, and hence foglights, are just live when the headlights are on, and not the sidelights, as Norwegian legislation dictates.. :)

wire 86 to your side light and when you switch those on your spots will come on. the 86 peg just needs a small amp to switch the relay on then when the relay is on it lets the bigger amps through from the battery hope this helps.

Cheers Teddywood. :) My thoughts aswell, but I'm not the best at explaining everything in English. :) Any suggestions to where I should take the feed from?
I suppose it's always nice to fuse it aswell?

Ok I get you - you need the front fogs active with side lights not active with the headlights only?

Easiest way would be to use the existing piggy back harness from the US kit on the headlight and swap the feed over from the headlight pin to the side light pin for the relay terminal.

That's correct Sir. And that sounds like the best solution to me, thanks for the tip. I guess it's out with a multimeter and figure out which one it is. :)

Fog need to come on with side light so that the road is lit. If he head light are on you can see bugger all for the light scattered and reflected back.

I thought that this was normal operation for front fog lights. Is this not the case with the freelander.

I still find it weird that the dipped beams don't go off with the ignition......
