Since i got this disco the front electric windows aint worked. The back are fine. Im pretty sure something was mentioned about a new window ecu. Not sure if one was fitted or one needs fitting. If it was that that was knackered would my rear windows not have packed in too? There is evidence thay the ecu has been out as its still hanging out under the dash. Checked the plugs and all still intact. I wouldnt normally mind but its like driving around in a greenhouse!

Try swapping the rear switches with the fronts to see if they are faulty at least you will rule that out, then do a search its bound to have been covered before ;)

dry solder joints in the window ecu, if its not the switches. not hard to do specially if the ecu's hanging out.
found it easier on mine to remove the ecu pcb leaving the housing in situ, it slides out forwards in the direction of the plug and socket.

Il have a look at some point. Doesnt sound too difficult. Just fed up of feeling like im in a sauna :)

Take the electric schematic from the (Haynes) manual and follow (and check) the the circuit from battery to window.

You'll eventually will find the fault.

Sounds like an obvious solution, but not often followed.

My v8 had a similar issue. I did track it down to a loose connection in the multiplug that links the door to the body (there's three if memory serves, not sure which one is the window one). Found by accident as was only very intermittant.

Well. My rear wimdows have packed in too since having my gearbox done. And my central locking has never worked either since i got it. All the locks work individually as if central locking never even existed. Think im just doomed to electrical faults.

Another obvious one  is to make sure all relevant fuses and relays are good before you start fekkin about with the wires, connections, switches, etc.

Just to know the central locking and elec windows are on 1 fuse on some types. (#11 under bonnet I believe)

I have a "spare" ECU you could try. I've already done the dry joint fix so for the cost of P&P it may give you an alternative route...

PM me if you want to try this (having done all of the other checks :D )

i know im jumping on old post but my window lift ecu is just clicking when i press front window switches (both sides)! is this just a case of swapping the ecu is do ineed to dig a little deeper ? thnx for any advice simo
