Front axle / bearing won't come out...

hi,

i want to replace the stub axle because the thread is worn out, the problem is that the outer wheel bearing won't come out even though it should pop out.....
what can i do ????

should i try to heat it up so that the steel expands and that the hub comes off..???

You have removed both nuts and the washers, haven't you? If the bearing is stiff on the stub axle you could try some heat, but the gentle application of a big hammer should shift it. Too much heat could knacker the bearing and the oil seal. How did you manage to wear the threads on the stub axle?

I dismantled it like in the handbook... so both nuts and the washers were removed,usually the bearing should pop out then and the hub could be removed , but thats not the case ...

Don't know how ive weared the threads , but i think i did worse by taking the two nuts of...

I got one spare stub axle so that will be replaced ..

Just to backtrack a bit, you've removed the half shaft nut, the drive piece held on with the six bolts and the brake drum, and you're left with the hub? You've removed the locknut, washer, second large nut and washer? The whole hub should now come off easily, bringing the bearing with it. Which bit of that isn't happening?

Had this very problem last week.

The way I got the hub of was using a couple of lengths of 10mm stud and some nuts. You basically slide the stud through the holes in the hub and put a nut behind it (you will have to open up one of the screw holes that holds on the brake drum)

You then tighten the nut behind the hub and the stud basically pushes it of the brake back plate.You will ideally need a couple of nuts acting as lock nuts on the end of the stud, so you ratchet those nuts whilst simultaneously tightening the one behond the hub.

You basically do a couple of turns on one side, then the other side. Took best part of a couple of hours by the time I cut the collasped / siezd bearings.

Ufff finale got the hub of , your idea helped me pushing it out but after that i just took a lever an pushed it from behing

Next issue was that the inner wheel bearing didnt slide off(Stuck..) i will show some pictures because they say more than 1000 words....


So now everything is greased and put back together
