HI,

I'm new arond here.
I have a question for you guys
Someone have a Freelander diesel from 2005 with Rover engine not td4 2000 cmc for sale.

The car has 120 k km. Probelm is that the owner changed three times the turbo charger . Now the engine is smoking again.
Is it this a known problem for this kind of engine or it might be another problem with the engine ?

First turbo was changed at 40 k with a refurbished one. The second was also refurbished. He told me that the turbo is blocked because he drives at low rpm .

Thank you

If the vehicle is a 2005 then it must be the BMW engined Td4 and not a Rover engine.

Turbo failure is not completely unknown but I would say that it's not common and certainly not 3 times in 120km.

The smoking could be due to a boost leak from an intercooler hose or perhaps because the crankcase breather filter has not been changed.

If the turbo vanes become blocked/stuck it will usually result in loss of power.
