:confused:rite first of all id like to introduce myself, my name is Ben and i have a black 06 freelander...i know not a proper offroader but its what i needed and its great to me.. ha ha :)

The problem, lately as some will know.. most of the uk is having alot of snow. so what i am thinking is fitting some more appropriate tyres for the conditions to make driving a little safer. but i still want my car to look nice. as its black i was thinking of black modular 7x16 wheels with 215/70/16 70%road 30%offroad tyres. i have 225/55/17's at the mo and are rather slippy esecially after i had the ecu upgrade they tend to spin easier.:D
what i want to know basically is will they fit and will i have problems? ive heard that modulars are like having spacers so will i be able to go for a wider tyre? and will it cause problems as i heard spacers cause bearing problems? so do the modulars cause these problems? basically what is the largest tyre i can put on 7x16 modulars without problems?

any help guys would be fantastic... im very in-experienced in this field and expect everyone to know a hell of a lot more then me... so please HELP

thank you
Ben.

I don't really know any more than you on this subject 'so for that reason, I'm out' sorry.

seen it mate, thank you. thought in here ill get better response... fellow freelander owners wont try rippin me to shreds.

All I know is that from much reading and reasearch etc, that you dont want mess around with the rolling circumference of a Freelander.

For that reason, when I wanted to do the same as you, I bought some 16" wheels from a lower spec model, but the same year, and then bought some General Grabber ATS in size 215/65/16. That means the tyres are 0.8 inch bigger and well within tolerance.

I could not find a definitive answer regarding what wheel would fit what, so erred on the side of caution. After having bought non genuine wheels for previous BMWs and had nothing but trouble, I would only buy genuine FL wheels for this.

Fianally, due to the 16" tyres being cheaper and the fact that there seems to be high demand for used 17" FL wheels, after selling my 17" I am in profit, and that includes buying the 16" wheels and tyres.

oh rite thats good then, id like to keep my 17's as i can go back to them if need be. but it looks like ill be taking a trip to the local wreckers and seeing what they got down there. thanks for your advise :)

Ben.
