hi my mates buying a freelander 2 ltr turbo diesel ,he,s asking how many miles to the gallon will he get.

Guiness, around 26 on the highway. see your dealer for the proposed figures, these cars are not to bad consicering they weigh nearly two tons.

bout 32-37 i get bout 38 in cruise at bout 70mph but then it can drop to bout 28-30 bout town make 2 wheel drive un youll get 40 +. . . .

We get about 30mpg in the 1998 L-series (has more weight than standard models) and about 40mpg in the 2000-onwards TD4.

2 threads! That's just greedy

My Td4 Mk3 Automatic so far is doing around 32 mpg but I've been everywhere in it, off road and motorways so there's no telling what it's really capable of on a steady cruise. I guess 38 to 40 mpg is achievable if you've a manual and a light foot

But who want's to 'cruise' in a vehicle with this capability?
