For the past couple of weeks my diesel freelander has been causing problems. A couple of weeks ago the engine warning light came on. But then went out when the car engine was turned off and on again. It drove fine, nothing wrong. Then a couple of days later it went into limp mode. I took it to a garage and after reading the error message they replaced the Mass Airflow Metre. This fixed the problem and the freelander drove great but only for a day when it just suddenly died on me, all the dash lights on and it just wont start. So today it's had a new remote fuel pump but that made no difference, it still wont start. Any ideas what it could be as I've got no idea? Cheers.

Is it the TD4 engine, the rear fuel pump is the likely candidate if the management lights are both on and it wont start, there is a pressure sensor under the bonnet that monitors the fuel pressure, maybe this is at fault if the fuel pump is fine, you should be able to hear the pump when you turn on the ignition, if you can't hear it it could need a new fuel pump relay.... a scan should show up no fuel pressure for whatever reason..

Thanks for this. Yes it's a TD4 engine and it's had today a new rear fuel pump and that made no difference. Will try replacing the sensor.

Can you hear the pump?? if not it could be the fuel pump relay..
Other guys on here know more but other things that affect starting are camshaft sensor, crank sensor, not sure if high pressure fuel sensor can stop it?
Get it scanned to be sure..
