hi got freelander 1.8 it rattles and vibrates when you stick your foot down.or make it struggle in gear got worse in the last few months been to garage they couldnt find anything wrong with it.
friend told me it could be a prop bearing?
hubby good at car repair is it possible to do yourself.
towing in a couple of weeks will it be ok ?

Hi...I have similar noise...only when engine is under load. Several others on here have similar symptoms, and it would seem that it is a component within the IRD (or transfer box).
Possibly a bearing. I'm not too bothered about mine, I'll live with it, it did get a little worse a few months ago, but now it seems to have setteld down, so I'll just wait for it to go bang! I have removed the rear prop, and rear drive pinion, and used a blanking plate, and that seems to have improved it a lot, but its still there!! Only remedy is a new / recon IRD unit.
Hope this helps, Russ

Sorry, didnt see the bit about towing...not sure, if it is quite noisy, then the extra load is very likely to kill it completely. Make sure you've got breakdown cover.
Of course, it could be something completely different, but the symptoms do sound very much like mine and a few others on here.
