Freelander V6 Field Coils

I work in Qatar and have a 2006 3 door Freelander V6. The vehicle had a major service, £2,000 worth 1300Km ago. Overnight it started running like a 'bag of nails' and the engine light was both flashing and coming on steady. I took it to the local (main) Landrover agent who diagnosed that 3 of the six Field Coils had failed. What can cause three Field Coils to fail at the same moment in time? All the spark plugs were replaced at the service.
