After suffering from power loss on my td4, i have read loads of posts most, say check your vacuum pipes, so i did and i have found a pipe coming from the manifold to manifold vacuum reservoir has perished, will this have anything to do with the power loss and what purpose does the reservoir have, any help will be gratefully received

Yes, the reservoir is a buffer for the brake servo taking all the available vacuum.
The reservoir unit is of such as design as to limit the differential pressure change when brakes are applied aloowing the vacuum circuit to waork correctly.
Without it - with it not functioning correctly, the vacuum reserve would be lost when the brakes are operated.

The vacuum operates the egr and the turbo control actuation solenoids etc.
