Freelander TD4 2005

I would be careful using them as fog lights, they look like they are actually spot lights, I'm sure you will find the the fog lights on the front of a freelander are fitted into the bumper and point slightly downwards so as to not blind the on coming traffic. I know as the I had the same set up you have now on my old freelander, but with actual fog lamps as well as the spots.

They are fog lights, and come with the fog light switch to go in the dash. There are two different part no's, one for long range spot lights (come with a separate switch, panel, relay, and wiring to wire up to main beams) for Freelanders fitted with the flush fit fog lights. And a fog light kit (the one I've got fitted) comes with a fog light switch for the dash, and wiring to splice into the main loom. There's loads of adjustment on the lights, and I'm still to adjust them before use. Both kits look identical once fitted to the bumper, lenses are different though. And fogs don't come with lens covers.

May I add though, yours does look good, I do like the extra nudge bar on the front of them!

Yeah, it's a bit confusing lol.....i had long range lights on the last one. Thought I'd ordered the wrong ones for this one. Till I did some research.

Has anyone fitted the driving lights? I've got a brand new set to fit (along with an A Bar) and haven't got around to fitting either yet.

I've got both VUB500960 (fog) and VUB500870 (long range spot) sat in my workshop waiting for me to decide if I like them or not.

I've fitted them to my last Freelander, there not to bad a job. Just make sure you get your templates set right before you cut the bumper. Have a good read through the instructions a few times before you start. Wiring can be a bit tedious. If your not confident, get someone who is to help you.

Go back a page, plenty of pics for you to look at.

They look good against the silver. I'm still undecided as to weather I fancy cutting a couple of huge holes in my bumper though.
However I'm now wondering if it's possible to fit both surface fogs and spots? I might just look at that this morning.

When I cut the holes in the bumper, there are plugs there with blue/purple cable, which is the colour for front fog lights. Plug was bigger than the one that fits the pod lights though.

The plugs you found are for the recessed fog lights. Those are where I'd take the feed for the surface mount lamps, if I decide to fit them.

This morning I played about with various locations for them.
I think they will look silly fitted to the outer coloured panels. However they don't look out of place if I mount them below the correct location. So I think I could have the long range spots in the higher position and mount the fogs below them. I need to check to see if the lamps units can be rotated by 90° as the panel curves away at that angle.

You could cut the holes at a different angle, but the land rover badge embossed on lense will be at 90 degrees. You could possibly put the pod on at a 90 degree angle, but wouldn't be able to fit the retainer screw.

The fogs must be mounted the correct way round. The beam is flat and wide. Obviously mounting the lamp at 90° would make the beam 90° out, and very wrong. I think it might just be possible to turn the light lens itself and at 90° to the metal frame. I'll play with this idea for a bit as I quite like the idea of long range spot and fogs fitted.

Yeah, would have thought you could twist the lense in the frame.

Genuine rear window guard arrived today, complete with brackets and bolts. Got rivnuts and grommets in the garage already. And downloaded the instructions with templates.

A few pics I took this morning, as was waiting for shops to open after dropping the wife at work.







Then fitted my rear window guard when I got home. Was going to mount my fire extinguisher to the rear door too, but it expires end 2016. So I'll have to get a new one.

New tyres ordered and being fitted Friday.

Pirelli Scorpion STR 235/55/17. Should look better, have more grip, speedo will be more accurate and I can do some light green laning.

You could have fitted larger tyres than that!!
I'm running on 225/60/17 and there's loads more room. Next set will be Yokohama Geolander AT-S in 225/65/17.

Yeah, I know but didn't want AT's this time. As this one is more road bias. And can only get str's in that size for 17's now, and still £20 a Tyre cheaper than latitude cross in 225/55/17.

Some nice FL's going on

The Pirelli Scorpion STR 235/55/17 tyres are all fitted. Looks loads better. Was planning on going for a good drive this morning but the winter vomiting virus has other ideas.
