Hiya ive Freelander 2003 which has a Tailgate Glass Motion Fault

You engage rear boot handle window drops a little then b4 you have time to open door it goes back up again

Any advice would be great cant burn it and claim on insurance as i did that to my last Gaylander lol:D:D:D:D:D:D

The tail glass should go down if you press and hold the unlock button on the key fob ,to reset the tailglass disconnect the battery with the alarm off, when you connect the battery the tailglass should go all the way down automatically, raise the glass with the switch and it should be reset.

Hi. New to the forum so hopefully in the right area!?
My name is Richard and I have a [51] plate Td4 Freelander (well the wife does actually). The tailgate door would not open recently so I checked various forums and came across a solution whereby you disconnect the battery, leave for 1 minute, reconnect and all should be fine as part of the ECU sync. I did this and yes the tailgate door opened and the glass dropped by an inch to clear the main body of the car however, when I went to shut the tailgate the glass does not go up into the recess to create a watertight seal. You guessed it ...........very wet.

I have tried various options such as reconnecting battery, locking and unlocking doors but to no avail.

With the ignition on, when I push the window down button I get a number of repetitive 'beeps' and nothing when I push it into the 'up' position.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated as the old girl is getting a bit wet now.

Many thanks for all help in advance.

Richard

ps. since I did this the wife is now complaining that the car doesn't want to start too well which almost suggest that battery is sluggish although only new 18 months ago.

Check the voltage when the engine is off and when running. Seem to be a lot of tired battery faults on here recently.

18 months is a long time if your alternator is tired.

If you put the key in key hole in tailgate it puts up window when turned.. Also the glass is held in 2 plastic clamps.. Sometimes it slips out of 1 or 2 of these.. It can still go up and down times but obviously wont go up fully.. Take back door panel off and have a gander.. 4 or 5 screws at bottom of panel, then it just pulls off from hidden clips..
