The 2001 TD4 has suffered damage from the many potholes. Both track rod ends gave in and have been replaced. Rest of front suspension been given a visual inspection, and checked for any play. Initial test seemed ok, then after turning around to head back home started getting a sound similar to that when a exhaust has come loose accompanied by the steering wheel wobbling. I had thought had the shock done something to the rack, but would certainly like a second opinion.

Take it back asap. It's impossible do diagnose over the internet with out lots of pictures of what has been done.

Nowhere to take it back, I changed the trackrod ends. The wobble was at low speeds. Was hoping someone had experienced something similar.

I see. Did you count the number of threads the old ends took to come off, so you could count the new ones on again?
Check the obvious stuff like wheel nuts and anything else that was removed to change the TREs.

Will have another check of everything when the weather permits. The tre were measured to the joint centre before and after fitting.
