never heard of sills on a freelander failing before

Not with me, I've dropped the car off at a friends. He's began sorting my issues out for me, as I've had enough of cars for the moment (after restoring a mini!!)
The tester said it was within 30cm of my seat belt mounts.
The place were the worst rot is, is below my rear drivers side door.

you might have to get some sheets and shape them yourself
other way is to maybe find a scrappers check the sills and cut them out and weld them to yours

Drain holes are they in the jacking points ?

I have seen 3 rusty ones now. 1 was a 98 model, and had already been patched before I bought it, on the passenger sill at the rear
Another was where the side step had been poorly fitted, and rubbed off all the paint on an early TD4.
The 3rd was an 02 plate TD4, with low miles, but both sills were completely ####ed at the back ends...

.Yep. The plastic cover that clips on the jacking point fills with mud that effectively blocks the drain holes!! This would cause rust.

Just remember to fill sills and other closed profiles (chassis, doors ect( with fresh waxes some times
I filled mine when bought it 4yrs ago, and fill again last time when fitting roll cage

Mine was caked with mud. The freelander was abused before i got her, it wasnt looked after too well. nothing was checked or serviced!

Thought so , lost 1 cover last year , so took the rest off , they did fill with mud on a regular basis , i will check the drain holes are not blocked , cheers
