Freelander rpm at 70mph

Mind you, it's possible that the EWP is freeing up alot of grunt at 70 with that much ram air going over the rad - it's hardly working at all whereas the mech pump is gulping down quite a few horses!

Hey,

No matter how much power you find revs and speed will always be the same in each gear (clutch slip not withstanding) unless you change a drivetrain component.

More power just means you'll get to those revs and speed faster.

:)

Ahhh of course good point! It's a matter of gear ratios after all :).

Thanks for that Ian - it confirms the LR Data exactly.

2.75 X 24.3 = 66.825 + 5% speedo error = 70.166mph

So if we know return to the OP's problem - his car is not in 5th gear at all - so auto-box problem for sure.

Well done SV, that's some fine deduction :). I know nothing about the auto boxes however!!

Just out of interest I tested mine this morning and;
2003 Td4 Auto..

2500 Rpm at a steady indicated 70 Mph on the speedo..

26.6 * 2.5 = 66.5 Mph + 5% 69.83 Mph..

Again the figures do work..:eek:
----------------------------------------

Could the issue be a worn VCU??
If it is dragging then it would take more Rpm to achieve the same speeds..

Probably miles off but just a thought..
