Who says Freelanders are rubbish?
(aimed squarely at the tratter boys....)

Took my 2000 FL 1.8 for MOT today. 86,000 miles. Owned it since Nov last year, and (with regards to MOT stuff), not done anything to it at all.
Garage were most dissapointed, and tried really hard to find something wrong.
Alas! all was perfect.
They even sprayed it with water to try and make a door fall off, but to no avail.
In the end they gave up, and reluctantly handed over a pass certificate.:)

On another note, anyone have a soft top for sale?
Cheers,
Russ

After spending over £300 in the last month on a Starter and a Lift Pump (TD4) I was a bit worried about my MOT. Having said that it passed no problem. Eight years old and 87,000 on the clock. I’ve had it since three years old (first MOT) and never had a problem at MOT time, never even had an ‘Advisory Warning Note’ either. More than I can say for my old Terrano and my friends Frontera & Jeep.

My 04 Td4 85,000mile commercial past yesterday too.... was nervous about it mind...

Think it has a sticky injector and there is a slight clicking on right lock and its 1000 mile overdue its service.

Passed OK though and the MOT tester said it was the best one hes driven!!

Well happy at that!

Our TD4 nearing 100,000miles was MoT-ed at the end of last month and just needed the orange indicator bulbs changing as some of them were a little white.

It had new fuel pumps last year (its only breakdown), and a new windscreen wiper linkage at 80,000miles and a new rear diff mount (£15) at 60,000miles.

Great car.

So it's now eight years old and coming up to 100,000. I wonder how it will compare to my Defender when it reaches 130k in two years time, or when it is fifteen years old. By that age my Defender was set for a new chassis, new axles, new brake callipers, New front springs, new bearings, new gearbox, new transfer box, new headlamps, new rear lamps holders...

Cheers

she failed :(

but only because one of the indicators was slightly the wrong colour, which they changed at no cost, then

she passed :D

interestingly, my wifes zafira passed yesterday with only an advisory, can you guess what it was ?

yeap, one of the indicators was slightly the wrong colour !

Good news all round then....
Interestingly, this thread has only been hijacked once by a tratter owner. Wonder why?

But hey, I love my FL...fine and sunny last weekend, removed the hardback, tethered the dogs (and kids) in the back, gagged the wife, and spent a great afternoon on some of Dartmoors finest...

140,000 on the clock, 1998 1.8XEi.......

Passed last week with 2 advisories - corroding rear brake pipes - they are original!! and a 19% efficiency on the hand brake. (Cable clicks 4 times, but shoes need a small adjustment)

Has passed every year since I took ownership in 2006 - just needed at CAT at 127,000. (eBay £40 quid jobbie with 2 year warranty)

Regards,

Steve

did mine as well last week, funnily enough Tuesday as well. Failed on the rear silencer, one track rod end & headlight aim. Bit annoyed with myself for the silencer as I didn't bother fully checking that one out as the car was quiet & the exhaust underneath is in great nick. Was a little suspicious about the track rod end though as I've done a lot of work to eliminate noise from the suspension on that side & still felt something wasn't 100% though it was difficult to tell. Did try to feel for play in the joint & didn't though that was a few months ago. Glad it's sorted & well pleased it didn't cost the earth.

My trusty L-Series flew thru its MOT in February, 108k on the clock and no advisories. It looks like a shed and is fairly well abused but seems to take most of it all in its stride

In fact this is the third MOT under my ownership and the only thing that has ever been noted was last year when the tester took exception to the blue tinted sidelight bulbs (fitted by previous owner not by me and no mention had been made on the previous MOT!)
