Freelander mk1 autobox

Six months ago I bought a 19 year old freelander v6 mk1. I had heard about the reliability issues but since it was cheap I gave it a go. Well as you would expect there have been some/several issues but I cannot help still liking the car which is my daily transport.
Latest issue is the transmission/ rear axle? giving an almighty clank and judder as it goes into top gear. This gets better as it warms up. I am pretty sure that the auto fluid has never been changed so I am hoping that this is a quick fix. Does anybody else have experience of this problem?

if its anything like the range rover auto boxes sounds like a sticky valve. try some Lucas transmission fix oil in there .

There's a specific method to change the Jatco auto gearbox oil in a Freelander 1. All in ere in the Freelander section. There is also a wrong nut you can undo with will mean you lose reverse gear. So make sure you have the correct instructions first.
