As I've just bought another one, I've been scouring the Internet looking at TD4's. To be honest with mileage I think around £1000-1200. :)

thks

that's the kind of thing i'm looking at , think a grand with no offers is reasonable, would be worth that as parts all day long

Yeah, it's a reasonable price. :)

just realised i also replaced the rear springs and struts

all genuine as well

don't think it's worth removing the synergy , as i don't think it would fit on a discovery

Remove it, and sell it separately. :)

u think , has also got the dashboard switch

I would, just put a blank in where the switch is. :)

Being a 3 door would limit its value over here - they're not as popular. I recon it would still be worth $4.5K though - so that's £2,600 at today's rates.

I've just paid less than that for a 2005 face-lift 3 door on 98k. And there's quite a few about under that price.

Thinking of taking up welding as a hobby?

not if i can help it , lol

would go for a 2004 , auto , believe that year has the tc and diff locks , but know there's no guarantee of it not having rust , want the ace system and full air bag system , easier to get in and out

really fancy doing some more greenlaning :D

but just working a few things out at the moment to see if i can indeed afford to sell it

would be easy to do, ref the switch ,

see u can have the synergy re cabled and re programmed for £40 quid , so it can go on another landy , so worth keeping it

Yeh, but try getting one in New Zealand!

Be careful about the diff locks - they may have the gubbins in the transfer box - but IIRC no D2s ever had the ability from factory to engage it. I'm not sure how people adapt them to make use of the diff lock - but maybe getting the lever and cabling from a D1 might be possible?

Would of thought so, but without seeing it's hard to know. :)

was reading about that, some years had them fitted, then they weren't , then they were, lol

will have to see after i possibly get one, of what the pros and cons are, if they are good being used with tc or not

will know in the next few days regarding if i can afford one , so just weighing up my options first

never go in with both feet , always get as much info before hand. same i did with my hippo

would be heartbroken to see it go as my late wife bought it and has been a great motor

just got to do some sums first

I found that my D1 was pants when I took it off road if it wasn't in diff lock (mainly on the beach). I'm pretty sure that TC would in no way make up for it as well. Might be good to get you though a patch of lost traction - but drive it down the beach for a few Ks and the brakes would be burning.

Apart from this issue of being able to weld, yer has to ask herself the question: do you actually need a D2 or is it just a case you want it? Then factor in the price and running costs.

If you are looking to sell your Freelander and get a D2, forget it. The Freelander is better on low traction surfaces. Cheaper to run. More nippy and town friendly. And doesn't rust it's chassis away after a couple of weeks.
I've pulley one of my off road buddies out of mud on two occasions. I had my V6 Freelander he has a D2 . I drove through like it wasn't muddy, he came to a halt. The Freelander towed him out, and didn't notice.
If you are looking for a Discovery. Go for the 3 as it's properly sorted. Oh they still rust though ;)
