freelander key

hi all anyone tryed one of these saves have the remote and key seperate on your key ring

I got one laying around. Wrong shaped key for mine. Too short the guy said. I got a 99 L series Diesel.

This is the type key i got:


Too bad it didnt match. Because i liked the look and feel of it.

I Have been looking for something like that. Where have you seen them?

hi justed ordered one on ebay £8.00 170990175204 is the iterm nunmber all you do is remove the inside of your remote and take out the chip from your key put all that in the new case and get the blank key cut job done

I'm in two minds about this. Is it any good? I like the idea but it looks to me like you'd be buggered when the remote battery goes flat as you have to glue it shut?

My thoughts too- I would really like something like this, but something that you can easily change the battery. It's scrap every time the battery dies, and how would you easily get it open again to remove the chip and PCB?

How long have you been using yours?

just use a small bead of clear mastic works np

I used model glue, but that's why I fitted a new battery.and held it together with two tie straps. I also put a small piece of foam under the board and chip, cos 1 of them was rattling.

thats the way new battery will last 2-3 years anyway where did you get the blank key cut

Timpsons, but it didn't work, so in the end, I mullered the spare key and filed it down to fit. Works a treat. And now it says Valeo on it ;-) so it's original.

i am a fd

my keyfob arrived today so of I went to the keycutter and he told me its the wrong blank --
told me to go and try the blank in the ignition even tho its not cut it should still go in only went in halfway looks like the shoulders on the key are at different places to the original
said he will still cut it if a wanted it cut but still don't think it would work
so then I ve got a cut key that's no good and wont be able to return to seller

so now I ve emailed the seller on ebay and awaiting his reply

And I'm an embalmer....

bought keyfob of ebay item number 221288756694
so I emailed today told him it don't fit

reply was

that's the only 1 I sell so send it back or buy 1 of a bloke on ebay that sells the right 1

well excuse me but I thought I had bought the right 1 in the first place
anyway ive managed to get it sorted by taking the flip blank out , destroying 1 of my original keys and adapting it to fit in the flip case with a new battery which now works just fine after a bit of fiddling about put some foam packing in it as well to stop the bits rattling about 3 drops of super glue and were all good to go
