The story goes, yesterday morning the wife phones me up (i am racing 300miles away) " the freelander has no power " so i arrange collection of the freelander and her. last night i went to see the freelander. all was cold but sempt to drive ok, but clutch biting point was really high,, so i gave it all of the world moving power that comes from the di engine:rolleyes:. intantly all four wheels spun (loose ground) and it accelerated away. i slowed up then tried to pulled away again, nothing !!! engine still revs freely, gears still seem to engage. but the freelander just will not move..

have i blown the clutch to bits
broken an ird
broken an gearbox
Other

ideas welcome

no clutch needed to select gears. gears can be selected with no clutch (while engine is running) there is a small amount of noise (like release bearing)rubbing which disappears when clutch is depressed. can't hear gearbox turning while in gear and engine running.

Clutch arm is likely seizing in the casing.... try and get some release oil onto it.

quick update !! clutch plate stripped to the metal plates. clutch fibers all over.

from putting the freelander on the ramp to driving it off 8 hours. ird removed before gearbox. cleaned and lubed release arm. front brakes stripped and cleaned (well might as well the wheels were off) the clutch was not a hard job i just took my time. now for a beer

ok!!!! she needs a new freelander or i need to stop racing..

this time a fuel problem or fuel / electrical.
for a while now when you start the freelander 2.0 di 1999
it holds tickover for appox 7 seconds after starting(this does not raise even with pedal hard down). is this normal??
recently the (2 months) the turbo acceleration has decreased. just does not have a kick at 2500rpm.
3 weeks ago fitted a synergy vp soldered all connections in. engine ran loads better.
last week she complains engine lossing power on motorway but then picks up again.
(i took it out, and to be fair i found the longest up hill going. full throttle 5 gear 70mph(ish) for 2 miles. the power did start to fade) but does not drive it that hard.

ok yesterday.. the car just got her to work 25 miles but kept cutting out. it can be started with alot of cranking, revs take an age to rise. max revs 3000rpm then 20secs will cut out and take an age to start again. while playing with the synergy in this state if i set it to v high loads of boost it does help it rev. (does have e management light on)will check codes tonight.
??? fuel pump
fuel filter
tank filter
injector pump
blocked air filter
any more ideas

choked fuel filter !!!!!!!!!!!:brick:
was only renewed in december
all is well again,, well as well can be with a freelander
