it was a figure the father in law threw at me guys...

is that really right for this engine?!?! if so i may have found my first downfall with the lump!! even my petrol mgf with a lambda sensor issue didn't use that much fuel in equivilent :eek:

Yep I get around 400 miles for a full tank before warning light pops on.

Linzi
If £1.40 is cost per litre then;
1 Gall = 4.54 Ltrs
£1.40 x 4.54 = £6.35 per gallon (yes it passed the £6 mark a while ago)

so for 30mpg;
30miles = £6.35 = 1 gallon
30mpg (30/4.54) = 6.61miles per litre
or
635/30 = 21pence per mile

Method of measuring
Fill tank to first 'click off' by pump nozzle (making sure it isnt just sitting wrong in filler tube)
Zero trip meter
Drive till warning light comes on (or until you reach a certain mileage)
Note mileage and fill again to first click off.
Note litres against mileage. (multiply litres by 4.54 to get gallons)

easy peasy :)

aha see i did say i was fairly cluless, but i really want to learn!! thanks for this lads, i really appreciate it, i will note down these bits of info for future :D

i'v been going by my 98' mgf 1.8 petrol and my old winter 94' 1.5 diesel perg, figured it'd do less mpg than the old girl but i honestly expected better than the mgf..... and what my in law had "worked out" of course....

sooo... excuse me while i go take the royal **** out of my father in law :doh:

It'd be a pleasure....for you obviously! I'm in leamington-uponchipshop...

I'm in Alcester, fellow member (kwhajh) is just up the road and the off road site is in Halford (nr Stratford). We were going this Sunday but there are clubs in for the next three weeks so will be going after that. I have spoken to the farmer though and it's fine for people to go in the week too so if you have the time spare (I don't at the mo) I'm sure you'll be made welcome. Will pm you farmers number but will need to check that's ok with kwhajh first as it's his contact. He's abroad until tomorrow. Speak soon buddy :)

Excellent...keep in touch, theres the green laning in warwicks thread too...

Yeah I've been keeping my eye on that but seems to be more north Warwicks. Apparently there are a few decent ones around Stratford area too which kwhaj is showing me soon including a really good ford at Aston Cantlow which I do know about and it involves driving up a river :D
