Hi All, I am total newby so please treat me gently! I also no sweet FA about anything mechanical - but keen to learn and DIY where I can!

Anyway, just bought some side steps / running bars. Black metal, wider at one end thatn the other, they came with the brackets .... been quoted £40 to get them fitted ... then thought  I may be able to DIY!!

Understand that I need to check for the holes in the chassis? Could be covered by tape etc. Can anyone confirm that the holes will definitely be there please!?

My other concern is about the fixings and whether a novice should be doing this?

Also if you have to use Rivnuts and get a special tool or is their an alternative?

I have attached photo of what I have bought if that helps.

See told you I was a newby - appreciate any guidance / info / hep you can offer.

Cheers Paul

Yes, the holes in the chassis will be there. Yes, you will need to buy a Rivnut tool.

If you think you will have a use in the future for fitting more rivnuts, then buy the tool and DIY it. If not, £40 is a good price to have them fitted

having fitted steps to a free lander, without the tool it is a git-problem is compressing the rivet as you try to tighten it

Having the tool makes it easy.

If you diy then hold bolt steady and tighen nut as otherwise lot spins

All, Thanks for your help:blabla: Instructions on their way and some received .... so will be having a proper look this weekend!

Anyone living near Stamford who has a Rivnut tool I could borrow - let us know in case I get stuck with bleeding knuckles etc!!

Cheers again Hunter13
