Hello everyone,

I'm an owner of a 2001 freelander DI (102HP) and I’m experiencing torque issues associated with very high RPM’s. Can’t explain exactly what I’m experiencing so I made a youtube video with a good description. Hopefully it will make the problem clear.

expecting your opinions on this one

So its slow to accelerate and low on power. Also the mph dash display doesn't work. L series diesel with manual gearbox.

Edit: its an L series diesel

Says "freelander DI" - so is presumably L Series.

L Series was sold "new" here until 2002. They had obviously been sitting around somewhere for a long time, but none the less are 'legally registered' as 2002 cars.

Sounds like an L Series.

As the engine light is on, the easy answer is to get the codes read - the car will tell you what's wrong then. Quite unusual to see the engine light on an L Series.

It will not be the MAF, MAF is only used to control the EGR on L Series. May be the MAP sensor, that is used for fueling.

The first couple of gear changes looked normal.

Lot of things going on there. The temp gauge is creeping up then going down again. Speedo not working - couldn't see the gear stick so can't tell if its got ABS but no ABS lights lit so presume there no faults there.

A failure of the MAP will put the MIL on, on the L series engine. I don't think it'll affect the fuelling if it's faulty though, as the EDC can fuel based on throttle position and engine speed.

Depends on whether the EDC will ignore the smoke map or assume no boost - if its the latter, it will limit the amount of fuel injected.
