freelander died

hi there i went to start the car this morning and nothing ?
the starter turnd over and nothing happend the car was running fine last night but was starting to rev a a small bit when i was stoped at lights when i was checking over the engine i took off the oil cap and could smell petrol from the cap ? any ideas what it could be also the past week there was been a tappin sound when idle but goes away when engine warm

sounds like your inlet valves arent closing properly ,how many miles has it done ?

it has just turnd 98000 but had a recon engine in 3 years ago

re built gearbox 3 months and clutch & master and slave cylinder

been offerd a swap for a p reg disco what do you think

Rip his feckin arm off.Is it a tdi? and have a good look around the sills and doors for rust .if in doubt get someone who knows discos to have alook for you .

i had a L REG 300tdi and wife made me change to the freelander
the disco offerd is a P plate 120.000 it is a tdi but has a 200 . 2.5tdi engine in it been told it beter but i always thought the 300tdi was a better engine ?

he is also lookingfor mee to give him £300 as my car is a non runner

get yours to a good garage and get a quote for repairs and take it from there .
If repairs are more than 300 I think I would go for the exchage but thats me .do get someone to look over the disco first though.
