Not posted for a while the landie been behaving herself until this weekend. Drove 1 mile to our local supermarket and all of a sudden lost power and every light on Instrument panel came on managed to get to car park but car stalled , battery seemed flat got a jump start got home on limp home mode checked battery and 11 volts . had alternator / battery checked-all ok run car today and all seems ok now no problems battery charging 14.3 volts with everything running . So what went wrong any ideas hope someone can help I haven’t got a clue thanks

Ouch, a difficult to diagnose issue and intermittent.

Does sound like a power supply issue that's possibly freaked the ECUs - possibly a networking rather than power issue?

Would be worth having a look at the diagnostics although I recon they'd be freaked to :)

I would add the ignition switch (plastic switch on end of ignition barrel) into the list of possibles. They are known to break. My thinking is that if intermittently faulted the dash would do a self test therefore putting all the lamps on. This could be the same for an intermittent earth strap fault.

Definitely check the ignition switch. It looks as though the engine was turned off and was then ready to start again. On the other hand it could be a very bad battery +ve, -ve, or alternator ground connection.

Hi, if the base of the ignition switch (with the contacts in) is kaput it can be purchased separately part no. YXB100350 £78.98 inc. vat. that's from chassis no. 1A000001 onwards. (According to the LR parts list but always advisable to check with supplier if the part is needed).

Done about 30 mile today stopping and starting no problems , maybe it was a loose battery connection cleaned all terminals before refitting ??? Thanks for all the replies
