Good Morning All,

I am have a 2002 Freelander that is having problems with the Cam Seal on the side of the motor. It keeps coming off.
I know there is obviously pressure building up in the motor and from talking to the local dealership they say that this is a common problem. I ask what is causing the problem and all they could tell me is to bring the vehicle into the dealership to look at it of course. I WAS willing to bring it in but they also said they are too busy that they will not be able to look at it for three weeks.

I recently had the reverse piston replaced in the transmission but I am not sure if this has anything to do with it

Any body have any suggestions on why this is happening?

I dont think any diesels were sold in US/Canada. It has to be the V6.
Do you have a pic of the seal?. Cam seals are spring oil seals, they tend not to come out easily unles the spring is bust. Easy to replace. Whats the PCV?

Yes, it is a V6.

I do not have a picture with me but the part looks like a little black cap with a rubber coating (almost like a dust cover). I got a replacement part from landrover canada and they said that they replace this part alot but they would not tell me the cause of the problem.

The PCV is a one-way valve that ensures continual evacuation of gases from inside a petrol engine crankcase. It helps to relieve pressure and causing damage to more expensive parts.
