Hi folks first time posting so don’t know is I am doing this in the correct place
I have a freelander 1 td4 2002 had it a year
Last night red battery light came on belt fine check it straight away
But made it home ok 40 min drive Have a really good battery only 5 months old so I suspect alternator fault would not start this morning just clicking we live on a hill so my friend gave me a push and it started checked the battery with engine running read 6,5volts and dash lights going crazy but engine seems to have a misfire and lots of smoke un burnt diesel will a faulty alternator cause this or is this something else was running perfectly before this thanks for your time
